My fascination with art began at just ten years old, when I fell in love with Vermeer’s paintings. Regularly visiting galleries and reading about art history, I began to paint in oils from the age of eleven.
My influences vary widely, but Matisse holds a special place in my heart with his strong sense of design and bold use of colour. So many artists enthral me, but John Piper, Mary Fedden and Simon Palmer hold very great appeal.
Working on a wide range of subjects that capture my imagination, I initially base my work on observation drawing. My main interests are still life, portraits, anything nautical, plus the occasional landscape.
My most recent work is focussed on a new series of flower paintings, with a strong emphasis on colour and design.
